                             (Olea Europaea)

The olive tree is an elegant, slow-growing, long-lived plant which is ideal for a sunny, sheltered spot. The olive tree retains its silver-grey leaves all year and, in the summer, tiny white flowers. The olive fruits ripen in the autumn. This olive tree is equally happy in a pot, or planted in the ground as long as it has plenty of sun.

Olive tree care
Olive trees are fully winter hardy to a temperature of –10, however very young plants should be protected in very harsh frosts.
Position:
Olive trees can be placed in partial shade or full sun. They thrive and are more likely to produce fruits on full sun.

Watering:
Olive trees are very tolerant to long periods of no water, hence the reason why they thrive in the Mediterranean.
Clipping:
Cutting olive trees in not essential. Just a small trim before the tree flowers in early summer.
Feeding:
Feeding is unnecessary since in their native habitat they survive on very thin soils.
Tips:
If you feed olive trees with the same food you would you for tomato plants etc.., this can encourage them to produce fruits.
